2 Ways to Get Rid of an Unwanted Stump

If you have a big stump in your yard, you want to be able to get rid of that as soon as possible. That's because it can attract all kinds of pests and critters looking for a safe place to stay. It can also be a huge eyesore. If you have decided that it's time to get rid of it, there are a number of things that you can do in order to remove that stump.

Grind It Out

There are tools that you can rent from a construction equipment rental company that will let you grind out the stump yourself. The grinder will look similar to a lawnmower, with a blade in front of it instead of underneath it. You will start by putting the grinder right up against the stump and letting it start to grind down the stump. Eventually it will reach the ground, at which point you will need to move the grinder to the next spot and start the process all over again. If you are going to use a grinder, make sure that you are protecting yourself by using eye protectors as well as ear protectors.

Drills and Chemicals

Another option is to use a drill that will let you drill down into the stump and then dump some chemicals down into those holes. The chemicals will eat at the stump and cause it to break down. It will take a while to make sure that the chemicals have time to work. If you are going to do this, you need to make sure that you use a drill bit that has a spade on the end of it so that it will leave a big hole for the chemicals to get down into. The further they can get into the stump, the more efficiently they are going to be able to do their job. It can take a few days to a few weeks for the chemicals to do their job.

If you would rather not do the work yourself, you can always get in contact with a tree service company, such as Complete Tree Service LLC, and have them do the job for you. They will have the tools necessary to get the stump out of your yard quickly and easily and with as little damage to your yard as possible. They may even take the stump and associated detritus along with them so that you don't have to worry about getting rid of it yourself.

About Me

Choosing The Right Professional Tree Service After thinking about how to keep some of the flowers in my yard alive, it occurred to me that we had some real problems on our hands. For starters, we had a bunch of overgrown trees that needed to be dealt with. The second thing we had to take care of was the fact that we were really behind on basic yard care. I started talking with friends and neighbors about what they did to make things better, and they recommended a local tree service company. After they came out and made some changes, my yard was gorgeous. Learn more about tree care on my blog.
